IB juniors in fall 2012, near Leadville, CO
Each fall, the IB junior class spends three days and two nights on an Outward Bound experience. Because IB is a community of learners, it is important for the students to form relationships and build a sense of community early in their two-year IB careers.
Outward Bound is an outdoor, experiential education program centered on team-building activities, physical events like rock climbing and hiking, problem-solving initiatives, service work, and opportunities to build trust and friendships.
Students are invited in the spring of sophomore year to sign up for this program, which occurs in the fall of junior year.
While the trip is not mandatory, it is certainly encouraged.
Cost of the trip is around $400 which includes round-trip coach bus transportation, accommodations, meals, and equipment for the activities. Payment is due before school starts in August.
