2008-2009 STUDENT COURSE SCHEDULES
FOR 10th- 12th grade students
We are changing the schedule adjustment process this year! Instead of doing all schedule adjustment in the days before school starts, we are asking students to verify their schedules during May. If they decide that they need to make changes they must come to see their counselors before the end of the year. The counselors and administration have planned this change to help prevent the rush and anxiety of fall adjustments, to reduce the number of changes that occur in the fall, to minimize the impact of necessary administrative schedule changes and to allow for class balancing over the summer rather than in the first weeks of school. Ideally, this will create consistency that will help our students and teachers begin the year smoothly and without surprises.
SPRING ADJUSTMENT (ALL STUDENTS): From Monday, May 12th until Thursday, May 22nd, students are asked to come into the counseling office to make changes to their schedules during an academic prep period. Current 9th and 10th grade students may see any counselor, but current 11th grade students must see their assigned counselor. STUDENTS MAY ONLY ADJUST THEIR SCHEDULE ONE TIME. This spring, a student may ask for any changes, but once a schedule is adjusted, no other adjustments will be made (with the exception of misplacements due to failure or summer school). It is to the student’s advantage to adjust their schedule as early as possible as classes fill up and flexibility becomes more limited. Counselors may not overfill a course, so adjustment requests cannot always be granted.
There may be times when a student who has been diligent and “on-the-ball” about his or her schedule has an involuntary adjustment made by administration over the summer in order to balance classes. Every attempt will be made to prevent this from happening as administration will move students who have not completed spring adjustment first, if possible. If a pre-adjusted student must be moved, however, a notice will be sent to the student and a fall adjustment will be permitted for that student, even though a spring adjustment was already completed.
FALL ADJUSTMENT: Fall adjustment days are ONLY for students who:
1) did not adjust their schedules in the spring
2) are enrolled in a class that they do not have the pre-requisites for (did not receive a passing grade during 07-08)
3) had an involuntary schedule change from the administration
4) need a change due to completion of summer school courses
August 6th – 08-09 12th graders
August 7th – 08-09 11th graders
August 8th – 08-09 10th graders
2008-2009 INCOMING FRESHMEN (CLASS OF 2012) COURSE SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENT WILL OCCUR AUGUST 11TH, 2008. ALL FRESHMEN SHOULD PLAN SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS FOR THIS DAY.
