Over Presidents Day weekend, Grayson Manuel, a LHS junior, competed in the Colorado State K–12 Scholastic Chess Championship and delivered an exceptional performance. With this achievement, he has officially qualified to represent Colorado at the Denker National High School Championship, one of the most prestigious scholastic chess invitationals in the country. The Denker Invitational brings together the top high school champions from all 50 states to compete for a national title and is widely regarded as one of the highest honors for K–12 players. The 2026 event will be held alongside the U.S. Open Chess Championship in August 2026 in Michigan.
